Guidance for husbands regarding justice between wives

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the second question from the questioner (A. A. J.) from Riyadh, he says: There is a man married to two wives, and he does not treat them justly, neither in financial maintenance nor in spending the night with them. Does His Eminence Shaykh Abdulaziz have a word to say to these husbands?

Answer:
Yes, it is obligatory for the husband to be just if he has two or three wives. It is obligatory for him to be just in financial maintenance and in dividing his time between them, so that he fears Allah in this, and in good character, as much as he is able.
As for sexual intercourse, justice is not obligatory in it; because it is not within his control. He may desire one of them at some times and not desire the other. But in financial maintenance, dividing time, and good character, he must be just and fear Allah in this. He must not wrong one of them over the other, nor wrong them both, nor fall short in the right of one while fulfilling the right of the other. Rather, he must be just in all of it. He must spend on each of them the maintenance befitting her, and divide his time with her as Allah has made obligatory upon him. But the fact that he loves one of them more, or has intercourse with her more, is not within his control. This is in the hand of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
