Ruling on giving money to the deceased's family when offering condolences

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: We have a custom where the one offering condolences gives a sum of money to the deceased's family according to his ability. Is this permissible?

Answer:
If they are poor and people are accustomed to giving to them, there is nothing wrong with it; if they are poor, you give to them because of their poverty. However, the better option is that you prepare food for them, such as lunch or dinner, for the three days of the bereavement or more. This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his family to prepare food for the family of Ja'far when the news of the death of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived . He ordered his family to prepare food for his family, saying:
Because something came to them that occupied themلأنه أتاهم ما يشغلهم
So if you prepare food for the family of the deceased, there is nothing wrong with it; it is a recommended practice. As for them preparing the food themselves, no, they do not prepare it for people. Rather, it is prepared for them and sent to them. And if they are poor and their brothers help them with money, there is nothing wrong with it.

The presenter: May Allah bless you.
