Is it permissible to give zakah to a brother?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our sister says: I am a believing woman, and praise be to Allah. I have a married brother, and his father is the one who provides for him, because this brother is still studying in high school, and the allowance his father gives him may not be sufficient. Is it permissible for me to give him zakah?

Answer:
It is not permissible for you to give him zakah. Rather, he should demand his needs from his father or be frugal, because this may lead to laxity or extravagance. In such a case, he should be guided to be economical or to ask his father, with gentleness and kind words, for the increase he needs. As for you, give the zakah to someone you know is needy and poor, and do not be lax in it. The son is able to contact his father and ask him for an increase, or be frugal in his expenses. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
