Zakah of a brother to his brother
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa number ( 16114 )
Q2: Is it permissible to give zakah to a brother ? Knowing that he is single, and is it permissible to give zakah to the parents even though the son is married and independent of them ?
A2 : There is a difference of opinion among the scholars regarding the permissibility of giving zakah to a brother whom the giver will inherit from; the preferred course is to give him from other than zakah, in order to avoid the disagreement. If he gives it to him because of his poverty, there is no blame on him according to the stronger of the scholars' opinions. As for the parents, it is not permissible for their son to give them zakah, because it is obligatory for him to spend on them from his wealth if they are in need.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
