I have older aunts who are over fifty and sixty years old. Is it permissible for them to uncover their faces in front of my father, and are they among the older women who have passed the age of marriage?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He mentions that he has older aunts whose ages may reach fifty or sixty. He asks: Is it permissible for them to uncover their faces in front of his father, and are they among the older women who have passed the age of marriage?

The Shaykh : It is not permissible for them to uncover their faces in front of your father, because there is no mahram relationship between him and them. However, he mentioned aunts and maternal aunts. Maternal aunts are the sisters of his mother and have no relation to his father. Paternal aunts are the sisters of his father, so they may uncover their faces in front of him because he is their brother.
As for whether they are among the older women who have passed the age of marriage, a woman who has reached fifty may be among them, or she may not be, depending on her condition and health. The criterion is what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned in His saying:
who have no desire for marriage اللاتي لا يرجون نكاحاً
[An-Nur 24:60]
, meaning that she has reached an age where she has become frail, the freshness of her face has faded, and she no longer hopes that anyone will marry her. This is the woman for whom there is no blame in uncovering her face and hands in front of non-mahrams.
