Permissibility of performing voluntary prayer with one who is late for the congregational prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I prayed Maghrib, for example, in congregation, and after finishing, a brother came to the mosque wanting to pray. Is it permissible for me to pray in congregation with him, and who would be the imam?

Answer:
There is no harm in praying in congregation with him. If he is more proficient in recitation than you, he is the imam; if you are more proficient in recitation than he is, you are the imam. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he saw a man enter the mosque after the people had finished their prayer. He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Who will give charity to this man by praying with him?من يتصدق على هذا فيصلي معه؟
Sahih Ibn Hibban 10:694
So some of the Companions stood up and prayed with him. If he prays as the imam, you are the one praying behind him. If you are more proficient in recitation and he leads you, he prays behind you as the one following. And praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
