Question:
This is your sister in Allah (M. A.) from the South, who says: O Shaykh, a teacher of the Noble Qur'an is very hesitant about taking a monthly salary for it.
The students pay a sum of money every month to cover the teachers' salaries and the school's expenses. What is the ruling on this? May you be rewarded.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
There is no blame in a male or female teacher taking a wage for teaching; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic hadith:Sahih al-Bukhari 5737 which al-Bukhari recorded in his Sahih; and because a group of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) passed by a group of Bedouins whose master had been bitten by a snake, so they did not recite for him, but they asked them to recite for their master. The Companions said to them: "You have not hosted us, and we will not recite for him except for a fee." They agreed with them on a fee from the sheep, a flock of sheep. They recited for him, and Allah cured him, so he gave them the flock of sheep. They said: "We will not do anything until we seek the permission of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)." When they arrived in Madinah, they informed the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: Sunan Abi Dawud 3418Sahih (Al-Albani) This indicates that there is no blame in taking a wage for teaching and for reciting for the sick. All of this is permissible, and praise be to Allah. Yes.

You are most entitled to take wages for doing a Ruqya with Allah's Book.
إن أحق ما أخذتم عليه أجرًا كتاب اللهNarrated Abu Sa’id Al Khudri: Some of the Companions of Prophet (ﷺ) went on a journey. They encamped with a clan of the Arabs and sought hospitality from them, but they refused to provide them with any hospitality. The chief of the clan was stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake. They gave him all sorts of treatment, but nothing gave him relied. One of them said: Would that you had gone to those people who encamped with you ; some of them might have something which could give you relief to your companion. (So they went and) one of them said: Our chief has been stung by a scorpion or bitten by a snake. We administered all sorts of medicine but nothing gave him relief. Has any of you anything, i.e. charm, which gives healing to our companion. One of those people said: I shall apply charm; we sought hospitality from you, but you refused to entertain us. I am not going to apply charm until you give me some wages. So they offered them a number of sheep. He then came to and recited Faithat-al-Kitab and spat until he was cured as if he were set free from a bond. Thereafter they made payment of the wages as agreed by them. They said: Apportion (the wages). The man who applied the charm said: Do not do until we come to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and consult him. So they came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) next morning and mentioned it to him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: From where did you learn that it was a charm ? You have done right. Give me a share along with you.
