Ruling on breaking the fast due to extreme heat
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from one of the female listeners. The sender, Umm Ahmad from Amman, Jordan, asks several questions. In one of her questions, she says: Ramadan came upon us in a certain year in the month of July, which is extremely hot. Unfortunately, I attended my brother’s wedding party, and I was fasting. The result was that I could not bear the extreme heat, so I broke my fast. This was ten years ago, and I am still suffering because of that day, even though I have made up the fast. What should I do to please Allah the Exalted? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
You owe nothing, praise be to Allah, except for repentance. You have made up the day and regretted what you did, so that is sufficient, praise be to Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Praise be to Allah who placed the fear of Allah, His watchfulness, and the awe of Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) in your heart. Thank Allah for this. If you regretted what you did, resolved not to return to such a thing, and made up the day, then that is sufficient, praise be to Allah.
If the breaking of the fast was due to a severe danger where death was feared, then you owe nothing, praise be to Allah. But if there was negligence involved, then repentance is sufficient, praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
