Q2: What is the ruling on one who breaks his fast after the Maghrib prayer in Ramadan , for example at nine or ten o'clock?
A2: It is prescribed for the fasting person to break his fast when the sun sets; based on the action and statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is narrated from Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 699Sahih (Darussalam) Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Delaying the breaking of the fast until after sunset is contrary to the Sunnah, and it is the practice of innovators. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
