The Ruling on the Hadith Permitting a Woman to Uncover Her Face and Hands

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner who wrote this question is Ibrahim Abdul Aziz, an Egyptian resident of Riyadh. He says: Your Eminence! Is it permissible for women to uncover their faces and hands, based on the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Asma! When a woman reaches the age of menstruation, it is not permissible for anyone to see of her except this and this," and he pointed to his face and his hands?

Answer:
This hadith is weak according to the scholars of knowledge; it is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The woman is an awrah (part of the body that must be covered); she must cover her face and her hands, as Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.
[Al-Ahzab: 53]. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathersوَلا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَائِهِنَّ
[An-Nur: 31] to the end of the verse. This mentioned hadith of Asma is weak, not authentic. Yes.

The presenter: What is the ruling on using weak hadiths as evidence, Your Eminence?

Answer: It is not permissible to use them as evidence. The proof is in the authentic hadith, or in the Qur'an. Yes.
