Sincere Repentance: By It, Allah Erases All Sins

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence, among the questions from this questioner is the following: What is your opinion, may Allah preserve and protect you, regarding one who has committed many sins and committed major sins since his youth, then repented to Allah with sincere repentance? Does he have any repentance? And if he repents and does good deeds, are all his previous sins erased? Or is it necessary that he be held accountable for them? May you be rewarded.

Answer:
When a servant repents with a sincere and wholehearted repentance from all his evil deeds, Allah forgives them for him, even if they were shirk (associating partners with Allah), provided he repents with a valid, sincere, and wholehearted repentance, accompanied by remorse, abandoning the sin, and resolving not to return to it, and he follows it up with righteous deeds; then he has a great reward, and Allah erases his evil deeds and replaces them with good ones. (Exalted and Majestic is He) Allah the Exalted said:
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى
[Surah Ta-Ha: 82] And He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
[Al-Furqan 25:68]
His punishment will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in humiliation, except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds; for those, Allah will replace their evil deeds with good ones, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.[Surah al-Furqan: 68-70].
With repentance, Allah replaces their evil deeds with good ones, if they repent with a sincere repentance from shirk (associating partners with Allah), from zina (unlawful sexual intercourse), from drinking intoxicants, from undutifulness to parents, from killing, or from anything else; if they repent with a sincere repentance, regret with sincere regret, resolve not to return to sins, and stand firm in obedience to Allah and His Messenger; then Allah forgives their evil deeds and replaces them with good ones .
