The Ruling on Lying out of Fear of the Evil Eye

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A group of sisters sent us a set of questions, saying: “Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings. Your Eminence, is it permissible to lie out of fear of the evil eye? For example, if a girl says that her grade was very good in the exam results, and that her grade was excellent in the certificate, out of fear of the evil eye?”

Answer:
Do not lie; this is lying. State the reality, and there is no blame on you. Praise be to Allah. Rely on Allah, and it will not harm you. Rely on Allah, and say: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created”
And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him.وَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ
[Al-Talaq: 3]. It will not harm you. Leave aside the worries about the evil eye. What is the evil eye? A person asks his Lord, saying: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created,” three times in the morning and three times in the evening, and nothing will harm him, praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
