Ruling on Wiping Over Thin Socks

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner: What is the ruling on wiping over thin socks? This is for prayer when I am at school, because the time for prayer is limited to ten minutes, which includes the time for ablution. So I wipe over the socks, even if they are thin, in order to make use of the time. What do you advise me to do? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Shaykh: This time is short; ten minutes is short. We advise the school administration to increase the duration to half an hour, or half an hour minus five minutes, so that the woman, meaning the student, can relieve herself, perform ablution easily, and pray with tranquility. This is because ten minutes is very short, and not every student is in a state of ablution; she may need to perform ablution and relieve herself. As for you, you must not wipe over thin socks. They must be covering and thick. Otherwise, take them off and wash the foot. They must be covering and thick, concealing the foot such that one does not know whether the foot is red or black beneath them, but rather they cover it completely. They must also cover the heels. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
