The Obligations of the Prostration for Forgetfulness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a person doubts in his prayer, how should he perform the prostration? And is it called the prostration for doubt in that case?

Answer:
If he doubts in his prayer, he performs the prostration for forgetfulness after doing what Allah has prescribed for him. If he doubts whether it was three or four rak'ahs, he makes it three, building on certainty. If he doubts whether it was two or three in a four-rak'ah prayer or in Maghrib, he makes it two. If he doubts whether it was two or one in a two-rak'ah prayer, such as Fajr or Jumu'ah, he makes it one and builds on certainty. He performs the prostration for forgetfulness before the taslim. If he performs it after the taslim, there is no harm.
Likewise, if he omits the first tashahhud out of forgetfulness and stands up from it, he performs the prostration for forgetfulness before the taslim, two prostrations. He says in them what he says in the prostration of the prayer: Subhan Rabbi al-A'la, Subhan Rabbi al-A'la, Subhanaka Allahumma Rabbana wa bihamdika, Allahumma ighfir li. He makes du'a in it just as in the prostration of the prayer, exactly the same.
Likewise, if he omits the tasbih of the ruku', Subhan Rabbi al-Azim in the ruku', and Subhan Rabbi al-A'la in the sujud, out of forgetfulness, the prostration is prescribed for him as well for forgetfulness, just as if he had omitted the first tashahhud.
Likewise, if he says the taslim while missing a rak'ah or two, and then he realizes or is reminded, he completes his prayer and performs the prostration for forgetfulness. However, the preferred option is for the prostration for forgetfulness to be after the taslim in this case. If he says the taslim while missing a rak'ah or two, the preferred option is for his prostration to be after the taslim. If he performs the prostration for forgetfulness before the taslim, there is no harm.
Likewise, if he builds on his predominant suspicion that the prayer was confused for him, whether he prayed three or four, but his predominant suspicion was that it was three, and he sought the truth and made it three and completed it, he performs the prostration for forgetfulness, and the preferred option is for it to be after the taslim.
Likewise, if his predominant suspicion is that it was four and he relies on it being four, then when he says the taslim, it is preferred to perform the prostration for forgetfulness after the taslim. If he performs the prostration for forgetfulness before the taslim, there is no harm in this case.
The summary is that the prostration for forgetfulness is prescribed before the taslim in all cases of forgetfulness. The prostration for forgetfulness is prescribed before the taslim in all cases of forgetfulness; this is the preferred option, except in two cases:
The first is if he says the taslim while missing a rak'ah or more, and then he is reminded or realizes it; he completes the prayer, then says the taslim, then performs the prostration for forgetfulness after the taslim. This is the preferred option due to the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
The second case is if he builds on his predominant suspicion; he seeks the truth and builds on his predominant suspicion; he completes based on his predominant suspicion, and the prostration for forgetfulness is after the taslim. This is the preferred option. Yes.
