The Ruling on a Mosque Imam Neglecting His Duties and Delegating Them to Another

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: What is your opinion, Your Eminence, regarding the imam who neglects his work and places the burden of the work on the guard, including the adhan, the iqamah, leading the people in prayer, and handling the affairs of the mosque? And is the salary he receives lawful?

Answer:
This is a betrayal of trust. It is not permissible for him to do this. It is obligatory to report his case to the responsible authority so that he may reform, or so that he may be replaced by someone better than him. It is the duty of the responsible group to report his case. We ask Allah for guidance for us and for him.
