The ruling on one who took money in exchange for work he did not perform

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener (A. A.) sent a somewhat lengthy message. The summary of his first question is that he worked for a long period outside of office hours and was receiving his entitlement for that, but he was not actually attending. Now he has begun to think about this matter, and his conscience is troubling him over it, and he seeks guidance?

The Shaykh: Repeat.

The presenter: He says: He worked for a long period outside of office hours and received the amounts he was entitled to receive for that, while he was not actually attending. Now he has come to think about this matter, and his conscience is troubling him over it, and he seeks guidance from your Eminence on how to deal with those amounts?

Answer:
He must repent to Allah the Exalted, by feeling remorse for the past and resolving not to return to it. And Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) says:
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى
[Taha:82]. And he must give in charity what he believes was not in exchange for work on his part, and what he believes is in excess of his right according to his belief and his ijtihad (independent legal reasoning). He gives it in charity to some charitable causes, such as the poor, such as the mujahideen (those striving in the path of Allah), such as repairing restrooms, and so on from the avenues of good, according to what he believes... He seeks to determine the amount he does not deserve, and gives it in charity along with repentance to Allah and remorse. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
