Question:
The Shaykh! This questioner says: The Shaykh! I traveled a distance of approximately ninety kilometers, and the time for the midday prayer came during the journey, so I delayed it until the time for the afternoon prayer. However, regarding the afternoon prayer, he says: but I prayed the afternoon prayer in my house. I forgot the midday prayer and did not remember it until I went to sleep. So I got up and prayed the midday and afternoon prayers, combining and shortening them. Is my action correct?

Answer:
No, it is not correct. You must pray four rak'ahs. When you remembered it in the town after you returned, you must pray the midday prayer that you forgot, praying it as four rak'ahs. As for the afternoon prayer, if you prayed it on the road, shortening it, you do not repeat it; because you were forgetful, you offered it before the midday prayer in a state of forgetfulness, so there is no blame on you.
As for the midday prayer, you must pray it as four rak'ahs because you remembered it. And if you prayed the afternoon prayer in the house as two rak'ahs, you must repeat it. But if you prayed the afternoon prayer on the road on the way back as two rak'ahs, forgetting the midday prayer, the prayer is valid, and praise be to Allah.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
