Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to recite the Qur'an for the deceased?

Answer:
This is not prescribed. The deceased, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).ينقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية، أو علم ينتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
Therefore, reciting the Qur'an for him does not benefit him, nor does he benefit from it; because he does not hear it, and he does not benefit from it after death. Yes.
