Question:
The questioner : May Allah guide you, O Shaykh! Some mothers, may Allah guide them, overlook reminding their daughters of such matters. What is your guidance for mothers regarding this? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Shaykh : It is obligatory for mothers to remind their daughters, and likewise for older sisters to remind their sisters, and likewise for aunts (paternal and maternal) to remind their nieces; cooperating in righteousness and piety. Each one should remind the younger one of what is obligatory upon her regarding fasting in Ramadan, regarding not praying during menstruation, regarding tranquility in prayer, and humility in it, in all aspects. Each one should teach her sister in Allah, her sister, her daughter, her brother’s daughter, her sister’s daughter, her neighbors, her companions, and her students. It is incumbent upon her to teach them and clarify for them what may be obscure to them regarding the matters of prayer, the matters of fasting, the matters of zakah, the matters of Hajj, the matters of dutifulness to parents, and so on. It is incumbent upon every one of the sisters, aunts, and mothers to guide the young girls and direct them to what may be obscure to them regarding the matters of religion. Yes.
