Is a Muslim excused for ignorance in an error of creed?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is an error in creed included in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
[al-Baqarah:286]?

Answer:
Care must be taken with creed; for it is the clearest of clear matters and the most important of important matters. Therefore, it is obligatory to be careful, to look into it, and to study it in depth. One is not excused for it by claiming ignorance or error.
However, if Allah knows that he is sincere, and he strives for the truth, and seeks the truth, but then makes a mistake and rectifies it, it will not harm him. For the remedy for error is rectification and repentance.
Or if he is among those to whom the call did not reach, he will be tested on the Day of Resurrection. If he responds, he will enter Paradise, and if he disobeys, he will enter the Fire.
As for one who is among Muslims, he is not excused for an error in creed, nor is he excused for turning away and negligence. Rather, he must study in depth, learn, and ask. Creed is the oneness of Allah and sincerity, and it is faith in Him and His messengers. If he associates partners with Allah while he is among Muslims, he is not excused for this. It is necessary to look into it, learn, and ask.
