What are the books of 'aqidah that are recommended for students of knowledge?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What books does the Shaykh recommend to students of knowledge regarding 'aqidah?

Answer:
The first recommendation is the Book of Allah: the Qur'an. It is the best and greatest of books. It is the book of 'aqidah, the book of rulings, the book of manners, and the book of morals. It has gathered all good: it contains 'aqidah, it contains rulings, it contains the call to noble morals and praiseworthy traits, and it forbids their opposites.
My advice to every believer, male and female, is to take care of the Qur'an, to turn to it, to recite it frequently and reflect on its meanings, to study it, and to discuss it with their companions, as He, Exalted and Majestic is He, said:
Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitableإِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ
[Al-Isra: 9],
Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure."قُلْ هُوَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا هُدًى وَشِفَاءٌ
[Fussilat: 44],
And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all thingsوَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانًا لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ
[An-Nahl: 89],
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ
[Sad: 29].
So the advice is to take care of the Qur'an, to recite it frequently and memorize it, or as much of it as is easy, to study it, and to read books of tafsir; so that you may benefit from the great benefit.
Then the Sunnah—the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—and the books that preserved the Sunnah are among the most important things to take care of: such as the two Sahihs, and the four Sunans. These are great books. It is recommended for people of knowledge to take care of them, reflect on them, review them frequently, and ask people of knowledge about any hadiths in them that are difficult, so that the believer is clear about the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
And so with the rest of the books: books of hadith such as "Muwatta Malik," "Musnad Ahmad," "Musnad Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi," "Sahih al-Hakim," "Sahih Ibn Hibban," and other books of the people of hadith. All of these are beneficial for people of knowledge.
