Answer: The greatest, most beneficial, and most truthful of them is the Book of Allah, which contains guidance and light. So I advise every Muslim man and woman to take care of the Qur'an and to increase its recitation, for it is the effective cure for all sins and all that contradicts the Shari'ah. For Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Isra: 9] ... [Fussilat: 44] ... [Al-An'am: 155]. And He the Exalted says: [An-Nahl: 89].
So the advice is to take care of the Qur'an through recitation, reflection, understanding, and action. This is the treatment; this is the beneficial medicine. Then come the books of authentic hadith, reviewing the authentic hadiths so that one benefits from them, such as Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, Ibn Majah, Riyad al-Salihin, al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib. One listens to the hadiths and benefits from them, treating the diseases of his heart with what he hears of the sayings of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) along with the Noble Qur'an. Then attending the beneficial sermons and lectures of well-known scholars, and listening to the Friday sermons and benefiting from them. All of this helps in repentance and in abandoning sins. For the believer to take care of listening to lectures from the people of knowledge, scientific seminars, and Friday sermons, being present in heart, benefiting from them along with taking care of the Qur'an, increasing its recitation, reflecting on its meanings, taking care of reviewing the authentic hadiths, and benefiting from them—this is the treatment. Along with supplicating to Allah and asking Him that Allah guide him, that Allah rectify his heart and his deeds, and that Allah grant him righteous companions and righteous associates. For righteous associates are among the greatest aids to good. For one to seek out righteous associates and good friends, and to stay far away from bad companions and companions of evil. Yes.
