Is it permissible to complete the recitation of the Noble Qur'an and dedicate it to illiterate parents?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible for me to complete the recitation of the Noble Qur'an for my parents? Knowing that they are illiterate and neither read nor write. Is it permissible for me to complete the recitation of the Qur'an for a person who knows how to read and write, but I want to dedicate this completion to him? And is it permissible for me to complete the recitation of the Qur'an for more than one person?

A: There is no indication in the Noble Book or in the pure Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, nor from his noble Companions, that it is prescribed to dedicate the recitation of the Noble Qur'an to parents or to anyone else. Rather, Allah has prescribed the recitation of the Qur'an for benefiting from it, gaining profit from it, reflecting on its meanings, and acting upon it. Allah the Exalted said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.
[Surat al-Sajdah: 29] And Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable
[Surat al-Isra: 9] And He, the Exalted, said:
Say, "It is, for those who believe, a guidance and cure."
[Surat Fussilat: 44].
And our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Read the Qur'an, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its people.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
On the day of resurrection the Qur’ān and those who acted according to it will be brought with sūra al-Baqara and Āl ‘Imran preceding them* like two black clouds or canopies with light between them, or as though they were two flocks of birds in ranks pleading for the one who recited them.
Mishkat al-Masabih 2121
The point is that it was revealed to be acted upon, reflected upon, worshipped through its recitation, and to read it frequently, not to be dedicated to the dead or others.
I do not know of any reliable basis for dedicating it to parents or others. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.
Sahih Muslim 1718b
Some scholars have held that it is permissible, saying: There is no harm in dedicating the reward of the Qur'an and other righteous deeds, and they analogized this to charity and supplication for the dead and others. However, the correct view is the first opinion, due to the aforementioned hadith and what came in its meaning. If dedicating the recitation were prescribed, the righteous Salaf would have done it. And worship does not allow for analogy; because it is based on divine text and is not established except by an explicit text from the speech of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, or from the Sunnah of His Messenger, due to the aforementioned hadith and what came in its meaning.
As for charity on behalf of the dead and others, and supplication for them, and Hajj on behalf of someone who has already performed Hajj for himself, and likewise 'Umrah on behalf of someone who has already performed 'Umrah for himself, and likewise making up fasting for someone who died with fasting owed, all these acts of worship have authentic hadiths from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And success is from Allah.
