Ruling on Touching Translations of the Meanings of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I have a translation of the meanings of the Noble Qur'an in English. Is it permissible for a disbeliever to touch it?

A: There is no harm in a disbeliever touching a translation of the meanings of the Noble Qur'an in English or any other language; because the translation is an interpretation of the meanings of the Qur'an. If a disbeliever or one who is not in a state of ritual purity touches it, there is no harm in that; because the translation does not have the ruling of the Qur'an, but rather it has the ruling of tafsir (exegesis). And there is no harm in a disbeliever or one who is not in a state of ritual purity touching books of tafsir, as well as books of hadith, fiqh, and the Arabic language. And success is from Allah.
