The Meaning of Allah Creating Adam in His Image

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q:
for Allah created Adam in His own imageإن الله خلق آدم على صورته
Sahih Muslim 2612e
, does this mean that all the attributes Adam has belong to Allah?

A: This is established from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in the two Sahihs, where he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
for Allah created Adam in His own imageإن الله خلق آدم على صورته
Sahih Muslim 2612e
And it came in a narration from Ahmad and a group of the people of hadith:
in the image of the Most Mercifulعلى صورة الرحمن
So the pronoun in the first hadith refers to Allah. The scholars of knowledge, such as Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), Ishaq ibn Rahawayh, and the imams of the Salaf, said: It is obligatory that we pass it over as it came, in the manner befitting Allah, without likening Allah to creation, comparing Allah to creation, or denial of the divine attributes. It does not follow from this that His image (Glorified and Exalted is He) is like the image of Adam. Just as it does not follow from affirming the Face for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and the hand, and the fingers, and the foot, and the leg, and anger, and other attributes, that they be like the attributes of the sons of Adam. He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is described by what He informed about Himself, or what His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) informed about Him, in the manner befitting Him, without resembling His creation in anything in that, as He said :
There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
[Surat al-Shura: 11].
So it is upon us to pass it over as it came, in the manner the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) intended, without asking how an attribute is, comparing Allah to creation, or likening Allah to creation. And the meaning—Allah knows best—is that He created Adam in His image, having a face, hearing, and sight; he hears, speaks, sees, and does what He wills. It does not follow that the face is like the face, or the hearing like the hearing, or the sight like the sight...
And likewise, it does not follow that the image is like the image. This is a general rule in this matter among the people of the Sunnah and the community: passing over the verses of attributes and their hadiths according to their apparent meaning, without distortion of a text's meaning, asking how an attribute is, comparing Allah to creation, or denial of the divine attributes. Rather, they affirm His names with affirmation without comparing Allah to creation, and they purify Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) from resembling His creation with purification without denial of the divine attributes. This is contrary to the people of innovation, the deniers of attributes and the likeners of Allah to creation. The hearing of the created being, the sight of the created being, and the knowledge of the created being are not like the knowledge of Allah . Even if they agree in the genus of knowledge, hearing, and sight, what is specific to Allah is not resembled by anyone of His creation . And there is nothing like Him; because His attributes are complete attributes that are not affected by any deficiency in any way. As for the descriptions of the created beings, they are affected by deficiency and cessation in knowledge, in hearing and sight, and in everything.
And success is from Allah
