The Ruling on Learning How to Remove or Break Sorcery from the One Afflicted by It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible to learn how to remove or break sorcery from the one afflicted by it?

Q: If it is done through permissible means, such as the prescribed supplications, permissible medicines, or the prescribed ruqyah (healing by Qur'anic recitation), then there is nothing wrong with it. However, learning sorcery in order to break sorcery with it, or for other purposes, is not permissible. In fact, it is one of the nullifiers of Islam, because it cannot be learned without falling into shirk (associating partners with Allah). This is done by worshipping the devils through slaughtering animals for them, making vows to them, and similar types of worship, such as slaughtering for them and drawing near to them with what they love so that they will serve them with what they love. This is the enjoyment that Allah the Exalted mentioned in His saying:
And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term, which you appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allah wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing."
