Ruling on Giving the Mushaf to a Christian

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: If a Christian man asked me for a Mushaf, should I give it to him or not?

A: It is not permissible for you to give it to him, but you should recite the Qur'an to him, let him hear the Qur'an, invite him to Allah, and pray for his guidance; based on the saying of the Exalted in His Noble Book:
And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safetyوَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَ كَلامَ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُ
[At-Tawbah: 6], and His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do not travel with the Qur'an to the land of the enemy lest their hands reach itلا تسافروا بالقرآن إلى أرض العدو لئلا تناله أيديهم
This indicates that the Mushaf is not given to a disbeliever for fear that he may insult it or play with it, but he is taught, the Qur'an is recited to him, he is directed to the truth, and he is prayed for. If he embraces Islam, the Mushaf is handed to him, and there is no objection to giving him some books of tafsir or some books of hadith if his benefiting from them is expected, or some translations of the meanings of the Noble Qur'an.
