The trial with wealth is greater and more severe than the trial with children

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: His Eminence Shaykh Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz was asked about the wisdom behind mentioning wealth before children in the Noble Qur'an, even though children are dearer to a father than his wealth.

A: His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the President of the Council of Senior Scholars, and the President of the Department of Islamic Research and Ifta, replied: Wealth helps one to attain forbidden desires, unlike children, for a person may be tried by them and disobey Allah for their sake.
His Eminence explained that the trial with wealth is greater and more severe, and for this reason, He, Glorified and Exalted is He, began with wealth before children, as in His saying, the Exalted:
And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you nearer to Us in positionوَمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلا أَوْلادُكُمْ بِالَّتِي تُقَرِّبُكُمْ عِنْدَنَا زُلْفَى
[Surat Saba: 37], and His saying, the Exalted:
your properties and your children are but a trialإِنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ
[Surat al-Taghabun: 15], and His saying, (peace and blessings be upon him) :
O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from remembrance of Allah. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.
[Surat al-Munafiqun: 9].
