Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Chapter: What is to be guarded against from the trial of wealth. And the saying of Allah the Exalted:
your properties and your children are but a trial
[Al-Anfal 8:28]

The Shaykh : The saying of Allah the Exalted:
your properties and your children are but a trial
[Al-Anfal 8:28]
This formulation contains restriction. What is its path?
The reciter: Indeed

The Shaykh : Indeed, meaning that your wealth and your children are nothing but a trial. But is it a trial of good or a trial of evil? Allah the Exalted says:
And We test you with good and with evil as a trial
It may be a trial of good and it may be a trial of evil. Likewise, wealth and children may be such that the child is righteous, becoming a helper to his father in his life in obedience to Allah, and benefiting him after his death through supplication. And likewise, wealth.
Good is the righteous wealth with the righteous man
So the trial here includes both this and that. Therefore, Allah said after it:
and Allah has with Him a great reward.
[At-Taghabun 64:15]
Meaning, make this a trial in good, so that you may attain the reward.
