Advice for one who complains of his father's injustice toward him
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message was sent from Kuwait by one of the brothers there. He says, "Rashid Abdullah Rashid, our brother, is a young man of twenty-one years old, as he states, and he complains of his father's injustice toward him in a full page. Your Eminence, the Shaykh, he asks for your guidance if you would be so kind?"
The Shaykh: And he complains of injustice...
The presenter: His father toward him. The father has wronged his son, and this son is complaining of that injustice?
Answer: I advise you, O questioner, to be patient with whatever injustice may come from your father, and to look into its causes. Perhaps you are undutiful to him; therefore, he has wronged you and rewarded you with more evil. So you must examine yourself, be dutiful to your father, and ask him about the causes of the injustice so that you know the reasons by which he has transgressed against you. Then leave them if they are not necessary for you, so that you may earn the dutifulness of your father and the pleasure of your father.
As for if he has transgressed against you without cause, you should seek to remove that through your uncles, relatives, and the like, from among those you think will be of benefit in this matter. Perhaps that will be removed without the need to refer it to the authorities or to the courts. This is better for you and more appropriate: that you seek to remove the injustice coming from your father by good means, by means that do not cause an increase of hostility between you and your father.
And you must examine yourself, for perhaps you are the one who is unjust and you do not know. Examine yourself and look at your obedience to your father and your dutifulness to him, and what are the causes that made him transgress against you and wrong you. Then consult good people who know your situation and your father's situation. Perhaps they will guide you to ways of resolving the matter between you and your father, and bring you together on what is good. We ask Allah for guidance for everyone.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
