The Ruling on the Inclusion of Prophets and Messengers in Commands and Prohibitions
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question: His second question in the principles of jurisprudence is: Is every command directed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) or his household directed to all of us?
The answer: Yes, this is the principle, that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is included in the commands that came through him, and so are his household, just like all people. Thus, the messengers are included in the commands and prohibitions that came through them. So His saying, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Yunus:106] encompasses everyone.
His saying: [Al-Jinn:18] encompasses everyone, encompassing the messengers and others. And His saying: [Al-Bayyinah:5] encompasses everyone. His saying: [Al-Baqarah:43] encompasses everyone. His saying: [An-Nisa:22] encompasses everyone, and so on. The principle is that the prophets and messengers are included in the commands and prohibitions they brought, and so are their households, except where evidence establishes a specific restriction, unless specific evidence establishes that this is specific to the Messenger or specific to a certain person. For example, the nine wives for him (peace and blessings be upon him) are specific to him (peace and blessings be upon him). And the goat of Abu Burdah ibn Niyar; hadiths came that it was specific to him when he sacrificed it, and it had not reached the age of two years.
The point is that the principle is generality in the commands and prohibitions that come through the hands of the messengers, encompassing the messengers and their households, except what evidence specifies. Yes.

so do not invoke with Allah anyone.
فَلا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ أَحَدًاAnd they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer
وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلاةَAnd establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience].
وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَارْكَعُوا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَAnd do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married
وَلا تَنكِحُوا مَا نَكَحَ آبَاؤُكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِThe point is that the principle is generality in the commands and prohibitions that come through the hands of the messengers, encompassing the messengers and their households, except what evidence specifies. Yes.
