Ruling on a woman unbraiding her hair for the ritual bath of major ritual impurity and menstruation

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is Fawziyah al-Tahir Manhal from Sudan. She sent us this message saying: Some of the women among us braid their hair, and when they take the ritual bath for major ritual impurity, the woman does not unbraided her braids. Is her ritual bath valid even though the water has not reached all the roots of the hair? Please inform us; may Allah reward you.
Answer: Yes, if she pours water over her head, that is sufficient. Umm Salimah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about that, and she said:
O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman with a lot of hair in my head. Should I unbraid it for the ritual bath of major ritual impurity and menstruation? He said: It is sufficient for you to sprinkle water on your head three times, then pour water over yourself, and you will be purified.
If she sprinkles it, meaning on her head three times, meaning if she scoops water over her head three times and the water flows over it, that is sufficient. And if she does not unbraid it, it is sufficient for the water to pass over it and over the braids, and that is sufficient; there is no need to unbraid it. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
