The Ruling on a Woman Seeking Her Husband’s Permission for 'Umrah and Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This questioner says, “We have become accustomed to performing 'Umrah every Ramadan. However, my father does not always go with us, and he allows my mother to go. Is she sinful if she leaves him alone and she does not know whether he is willing in his heart, or not? May Allah reward you with good.”
Answer: As long as he permits it, and praise be to Allah, that is sufficient. As long as he permits her to perform 'Umrah and Hajj, there is no blame on her. Hearts are with Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) . So, if he permits her, she performs Hajj and 'Umrah as a voluntary act, voluntary Hajj, voluntary 'Umrah. As for the obligatory act, she must perform Hajj even if he does not permit it, provided she has a mahram (a relative one may not marry); it is obligatory for her to perform Hajj. As for the voluntary act, there is no blame if he permits her and she performs it; otherwise, she does not perform it. And if she sees the benefit in serving him, she prioritizes his benefit. If she sees the benefit in serving him and that he needs her, it is better for her to serve him, because he may permit her while not being willing. So, if she sits with him, serves him, and attends to his interests, that is better. Yes.
