Ruling on slaughtering an animal for a vision seen in a dream
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from a female questioner from Aleppo, Syria, who used the initials (W. A. S.) as a code for her name. In truth, this questioner asked about a vision she saw, and it is not our custom in this program to deal with visions and dreams. However, she mentioned an action she performed after the vision and carried out a command, so we wanted to present it so that the ruling on this action becomes clear. The questioner says: She had the pre-dawn meal for fasting the six days of Shawwal, and after she prayed the dawn prayer and recited some of the Qur'an, she dozed off. She says: She saw in the dream the following: She held a white paper, and there was a man sitting in front of her with a table in front of him, and she gave him the white paper, and the man began to write on the paper. Then she saw the paper fly upward, and at that time she heard a voice saying: Revelation has descended several times and quickly. So she stood up and looked at the sky and saw a light descending from above to below, and next to it a smaller light. She raised her hands and said: O Lord! My children, O Lord! My children. Then she woke up. This is the dream she saw. So she says—after this: When I woke up in the morning, I asked one of my children to bring me a sheep and slaughter it. He asked me why I did that, so I told him: Slaughter the sheep and then I will tell you. He actually brought the sheep and slaughtered it, and after that I told him about the matter. I distributed the sheep's meat to people and left a part of it for eating. What is the ruling on slaughtering the sheep? May Allah guide you.
Answer: As for this vision, it is from Shaytan; because Shaytan deceives people, and claims for them things that may lead them to claim that they are being revealed to, or that they are close friends of Allah through this matter, so they are exalted and highly regarded. Revelation has ceased with the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, he was the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He is the Seal of the Prophets, and revelation has ceased. So what was said to her—that revelation has descended—is all from Shaytan to deceive her and confuse her religion. There is no revelation after Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and there is no revelation that descends upon men or women after him (peace and blessings be upon him).
This is a vision containing deception from Shaytan and misleading from Shaytan. So it is obligatory for her, when she wakes up, to spit to her left three times, to spit to her left three times, and to say: I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan and from the evil of what I saw, three times. Then she turns over to her other side, and it will not harm her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:.
As for the sheep, if her intention was charity, there is nothing wrong with it; she may eat and give in charity. As for this vision, it does not obligate a sheep or anything else. In our view, this is from Shaytan for the purpose of misleading and deceiving. So when she wakes up, she should spit to her left three times and say: I seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan and from the evil of what I saw, three times. Then she turns over to her other side, and she should not tell anyone about it, and it will not harm her.
As for the sheep, if her intention with it is to draw near to Allah and to give charity to her family and to others, there is nothing wrong with it. But not for the sake of this vision. Rather, whoever wants to draw near to Allah with a sacrifice should slaughter it and give it in charity to the poor on any day, on the days of the festival of sacrifice as an 'Id sacrifice, or on other days with the intention of charity, giving to the poor and the needy, or distributing coins, or distributing food, or clothing, there is nothing wrong with it. This is a means of drawing near to Allah, charity for the poor and the needy, a means of drawing near to Allah at any time. Likewise, giving gifts to relatives to maintain family ties is a means of drawing near to Allah the Exalted and Majestic. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.

A good vision is from Allah, and a dream is from Shaytan. So if one of you sees something he dislikes, let him spit to his left three times, and let him seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan and from the evil of what he saw, three times, then let him turn over to his other side, for it will not harm him, and he should not tell anyone about it.
As for the sheep, if her intention was charity, there is nothing wrong with it; she may eat and give in charity.
