Ruling on cosmetic procedures such as hair transplantation and the like
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A message was received by the program from Iraq, Nineveh, sent by a listener from there, (M. N. Y). In one of his questions, he asks: Are cosmetic procedures forbidden or permissible, such as hair transplantation and shortening the nose?
Answer: As for a woman doing things to make hair grow if she has no hair, taking, I mean, medications that cause hair to grow, there is nothing wrong with that; growing hair is desirable. As for attaching hair, joining hair, or wearing a wig, that is not permissible. However, if there is a medication that causes hair to grow on the head, there is nothing wrong with using the medication if it is a good medication that contains no harm and no impurity, so there is nothing wrong with using it.
However, if the medication contains harm, or impurity, or is intoxicating, it must not be used.
As for cosmetic procedures that involve changing Allah’s creation, such as putting a tattoo on one’s hands or face, or doing something to the face that is not permissible, like cutting a part of it when there is no defect in it and no disease in it. However, if there is an extra growth, or an ulcer, or something in it that is treated and cured, there is nothing wrong with that.
And likewise, straightening the teeth, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:.
The point is: if one changes Allah’s creation for the sake of beautification, that is not permissible. But if it is for a defect, such as a disease in the hand that is treated to be saved from the disease, or to save the fingers, or a disease in the nose that is treated to be saved and to remove the wounds or the darkness that came upon it, or the pain that came upon it, there is no blame in that. Yes.
