Question:
In his final questions, he inquires about this verse:
And from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provisionوَمِنْ ثَمَرَاتِ النَّخِيلِ وَالأَعْنَابِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْهُ سَكَرًا وَرِزْقًا حَسَنًا...
[Surat al-Nahl: 67] the verse?

Answer:
This was in the early days of Islam; they used to make intoxicants—khamr—from the fruits of the date palms and the grapevines when it was permissible. Then Allah abrogated that and forbade it in His saying—(Exalted and Majestic is He)—:
indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satanإِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالأَنصَابُ وَالأَزْلامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ
[Surat al-Ma'idah: 90] in Surat al-Ma'idah
so avoid it that you may be successful.فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
[Surat al-Ma'idah: 90] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “May Allah curse khamr, its drinker, its server, its carrier, the one to whom it is carried, its presser, its presser’s helper, its seller, its buyer, and the one who eats its price.” It was permissible at first, and people drank it in Makkah, in the early days of Islam, in the early days of the Hijrah. Then Allah forbade it in al-Madinah and cursed its drinker. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
