The ruling on making up missed prayers and fasts for one who repents from abandoning them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a Sudanese questioner residing in the Eastern Region. He says, "May Your Eminence, the Shaykh, know that I am thirty-one years old. I used to not pray, and I would not fast except for a little, and I did not care about committing sins until eight years ago. Allah has granted me repentance and steadfastness, and I praise Allah for that."
So I hope Your Eminence will clarify for me what I should do about the fasting I did not perform, as I do not know the number of months or days. Is it obligatory for me to make up the prayers, and is Hajj obligatory upon me?

Answer:
Repentance is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, repentance is sufficient. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Repentance wipes out what came before itالتوبة تجب ما قبلها
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.التائب من الذنب كمن لا ذنب له
Sunan Ibn Majah 4250Da’if (Darussalam)
And this is the meaning of the saying of His Lord, the Exalted:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
[Az-Zumar: 53]. The scholars are in agreement that this noble verse is regarding those who repent, and that whoever repents to Allah from his shirk (associating partners with Allah) and kufr (disbelief), Allah accepts his repentance, and likewise from all sins. So there is no obligation upon you, my brother, to make up the missed prayers that you abandoned, nor the fasting. Praise be to Allah, Allah has pardoned you for that through your repentance. And you must be earnest and diligent in obeying your Lord, and do much good deeds. And Allah, the Exalted, says:
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى
[Ta-Ha: 82]. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
