The ruling on the Hajj of one who commits major sins after his Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers, Saleh al-Sharqi al-Mari, sent a question, saying: I have performed the obligatory Hajj, and I am twenty years old and have not yet married. After performing the obligation, I committed some sins, including major sins—as he says. So, is my Hajj invalid?

Answer:
Your Hajj is valid, and praise be to Allah, if you performed what Allah prescribed for you. Your Hajj is valid, and sins do not invalidate it afterward. Even if a person were to apostatize, if he were to disbelieve, it would not invalidate his Hajj unless he died upon disbelief. If he apostatized, then Allah guided him and he returned to Islam, his previous deeds would remain for him; because Allah made the condition for apostasy that one dies upon it
and dies while he is a disbelieverفَيَمُتْ وَهُوَ كَافِرٌ
[al-Baqarah: 217].
As for if Allah guides him and he returns to Islam, his deeds remain for him.
So, a sin is even more so; a sin does not nullify the Hajj. So if you performed Hajj, fasted Ramadan, and prayed the prayers, and then afterward you committed zina, or drank an intoxicant, or were undutiful to your parents, or consumed riba, this does not invalidate your deeds. The sin carries a sin, and you bear its sin, but it does not invalidate the previous deeds. The deeds remain as they are, but your faith weakens. Sins weaken faith, diminish faith, and cause the anger of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), but they do not invalidate your past obedience. Rather, they diminish their rewards and weaken them.
Except for one who deems it permissible, who deems zina permissible, who sees it as lawful, who deems zina permissible while knowing that it is forbidden and deems it permissible among the Muslims, knowing that zina is lawful, or who deems khamr permissible; he becomes an apostate from Islam. So if he dies upon that, his Hajj and all his worship are invalidated, as He, the Exalted, said:
But if they had associated others with Allah, then worthless for them would be whatever they were doing.وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
[al-An'am: 88] And He, the Exalted, said:
And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالإِيمَانِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُ وَهُوَ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
[al-Ma'idah: 5].
So the one who apostatizes from his religion, if he dies upon apostasy, his deeds are invalidated. And among them is the one who deems zina, or khamr, or undutifulness to parents permissible, saying: It is lawful, and he has understood the Sunnah and understood the evidence. So this makes him a disbeliever and an apostate from Islam, we seek refuge in Allah. If he dies upon this, his deeds are invalidated. We ask Allah for well-being. Yes.

The presenter: O Allah, amen.
