The ruling on washing the feet up to the ankles three times

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listening brothers sent a message containing a number of questions. It appears to be from the brother Abdullah Abu Fudaymir. In one of his questions, he says: I heard that if a Muslim does not wash his feet up to the ankles three times, that is forbidden. How accurate is this? And since I wash my feet under the tap without counting the number of washes, am I sinful?

Answer:
This statement is a claim about Allah without knowledge and is incorrect. It is obligatory to do it once, and three times is better. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution once, and he performed it twice, and he performed it three times (peace and blessings be upon him). If he performs ablution once, washing his face once, rinsing his mouth once, sniffing water into his nose once, washing his hands once, wiping his head once, and washing his feet once, that is sufficient. If he covers the limb with water, if he runs water over it once, that is sufficient. So that he rinses his mouth and sniffs water into his nose once, and pours water over his face once and covers it with water, that is sufficient. Likewise, his right and left hands; he covers them with water once, and that is sufficient. Likewise, his head; he wipes his head and his ears once, and he washes his right foot once and his left foot likewise, and that is sufficient.
But if he repeats it three times, it is better and more complete, and two times is more complete than one. The meaning of washing it is that he covers it with water, whether with two handfuls, or with three handfuls, or under the tap. If he covers it with water, that is one time. If he repeats covering it with water, that is the second time. If he puts his foot under the tap a third time, that is the third time. But three times is not a condition. No, one time is sufficient. If he covers it with water under the tap once, that is sufficient. Or with the water he takes from the vessel; he scoops from the vessel and pours it over his limbs, and one time is sufficient.
And the statement of whoever says that it is necessary to do it three times is incorrect. The correct view is that one time is sufficient, if he covers the limb with water, whether he covers it with one wash, or two washes, or more. He must cover it with water: the face, the hands, and the feet.
As for the head, the recommended practice is once, absolutely. The recommended practice is not to wipe it except once, absolutely, including the ears.
As for the three limbs: the face, the hands, and the feet, the recommended practice is to cover them with water three times. If he limits it to two times, or to one time, that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
