The Ruling on One Who Enters the State of Ihram from His Home

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What should a person who intends to perform the lesser pilgrimage (‘Umrah) and is coming from Egypt do? Should he enter the state of ihram from his home or from the airplane? If he is in the airplane, what exactly should he do?
Please inform us, O Shaykh.

Answer:
The Sunnah is to enter the state of ihram from the miqat, not from one’s home. If he is in the airplane or the car and passes by the miqat, or slightly before it, he should enter the state of ihram. He says: “O Allah, here I am responding to You for ‘Umrah,” if it is ‘Umrah, or: “O Allah, here I am responding to You for Hajj,” if it is Hajj, with the intention, with the intention of the heart. The intention for ‘Umrah and Hajj is made with the heart, and he verbalizes it, saying: “O Allah, here I am responding to You for Hajj,” if it is Hajj, or: “O Allah, here I am responding to You for ‘Umrah,” if it is ‘Umrah. From the miqat, this is the best. And if he enters the state of ihram from his home, there is nothing wrong with it, or from the road, there is nothing wrong with it, but it is contrary to the Sunnah. The Sunnah is to enter the state of ihram from the miqat. It is disliked to enter the state of ihram before that, but if he enters the state of ihram before that, his ihram is valid and binding upon him. Yes.
