The Ruling on Loans with Interest

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
His other question says: There is a person who lends to people with interest. For example, he gives a man one hundred dinars for six months, and he takes, for example, an extra twenty dinars on this amount. What is the ruling of Islam in this?

Answer:
This transaction is usurious, one of the acts of riba (usury or interest). Its ruling is that it is an invalid usurious transaction. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has forbidden riba, and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses, and he said: They are all equal.لعن آكل الربا وموكله وكاتبه وشاهديه وقال: هم سواء
Sahih Muslim 1598
And Allah the Exalted says:
O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interestيَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَذَرُوا مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الرِّبَا
[al-Baqarah:278] The meaning is that riba must be abandoned, then He explained that it is a declaration of war against Allah and a declaration of war against the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
So the believer must beware of all types of riba. For this reason, He said:
And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messengerفَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا فَأْذَنُوا بِحَرْبٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ
[al-Baqarah:279] Meaning: Know that there is a war from Allah and the Messenger, and that you are at war with Allah and His Messenger in dealing in riba. So the interest on loans is riba. If he lends him ten dinars so that he gives him twelve or thirteen after that, this is from riba. Yes.
