The Virtue of Visiting Relatives and Brothers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We return at the beginning of this episode to the message from the listener: (Sh. Q. 'A.) from Libya. Our brother presented some of his questions in a previous episode, and he has one question remaining in this episode, in which he says:
We ask you to clarify for us the matter of visiting relatives and friends. We want to know the virtue of visiting, and what are the days on which it is recommended to visit?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
There is no doubt that visiting brothers in Allah, friends, and relatives, for the sake of drawing near to Allah, obeying Him (Glorified and Exalted is He), and striving to maintain affection and love, and to maintain family ties, is among the best means of drawing near to Allah and among the best acts of obedience. It is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Allah the Exalted says:يقول الله 
: My love is obligatory for those who visit one another for My sake, sit together for My sake, love one another for My sake, and exchange gifts for My sake. And he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. They are: (1) a just ruler; (2) a young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, (i.e. worship Allah (Alone) sincerely from his childhood), (3) a man whose heart is attached to the mosque (who offers the five compulsory congregational prayers in the mosque); (4) two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only; (5) a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for an illegal sexual intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah; (6) a person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity). (7) a person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes get flooded with tears.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1423
.
This great hadith indicates the virtue of loving one another for the sake of Allah. Among the manifestations of loving one another for the sake of Allah is visiting one another to strengthen affection, to cooperate in good, and to advise one another to truth. In the authentic hadith, it is reported that
A man visited a brother of his in Allah, so Allah stationed an angel on his path in the form of a man. When he passed by him, the angel asked him: Where are you going? He said: To so-and-so.
said: I intended to visit so-and-so
He said: Do you have any favor to bestow upon him? He said: No, except that I love him for the sake of Allah. The angel said to him: I am the messenger of Allah to you; Allah loves you as you loved him.
. This indicates the virtue of visiting for the sake of Allah, whether it be a relative or a friend. Furthermore, visiting a relative is also maintaining family ties. In the authentic hadith, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Anyone who wants to have his provision expanded and his term of life prolonged should maintain ties of kinship.
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 56
. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Anyone who cuts off relationship from his nearest relatives will not enter Paradise.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1696Sahih (Al-Albani)
. Thus, maintaining family ties is among the best means of drawing near to Allah, and severing them is among the ugliest of sins. May Allah grant us assistance. Yes.

The presenter: And Allah is the Helper, may Allah reward you with good.
