Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: {And none of you but will pass over it}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Now, we move on to the message from the listener, Umm Mu'adh. In her message, she asks: What is the meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And there is none of you except he will come to itوَإِنْ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا
[Maryam: 71]? And is it true that the pious believer enters the Fire and is punished?

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) interpreted this verse, stating that the intended meaning of "passing over" is crossing the Sirat. Everyone crosses the Sirat, which is established over the back of Hellfire. The disbeliever does not cross it; he falls into the Fire, is driven into the Fire, and enters the Fire. We ask Allah for safety. The believer is saved and does not fall into it. For this reason, the Exalted said:
And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed.وَإِنْ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا كَانَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَقْضِيًّا ۝
[Maryam 19:71]
Then We will save those who feared Us, and We will leave the wrongdoers therein prostrate [Maryam: 71-72]. The disbelievers are driven into it, while the Muslims cross the Sirat and are saved.
Some of the Muslims are scratched, then they are saved. Others fall into the Fire because of their sins.
This necessitates caution, and that the believer should be upright in the mindfulness of Allah, and fear His disobedience, so that Allah saves him from the Fire during the crossing, and before the crossing.
The point is that "passing over" means crossing. The pious and the believers cross, and nothing harms them, and praise be to Allah.
As for the disbelievers, they do not cross it; rather, they are driven into the Fire. Some of the Muslims who cross may fall into the Fire because of their sins. They remain in the Fire as long as Allah wills, then Allah takes them out of the Fire because of their death upon the oneness of Allah and Islam. This is the position of the people of the Sunnah and the community: that some of the sinners enter the Fire and are punished therein because of their sins, but they do not remain in it eternally. Rather, they have a limit to which they reach. When the limit is completed and what Allah has decreed and destined for them of punishment ends, they are taken out of the Fire into Paradise. No one remains in the Fire except the disbelievers, who remain in it forever. We seek refuge in Allah from that.
As for the pious, they cross and do not fall, as He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees.ثُمَّ نُنَجِّي الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا وَنَذَرُ الظَّالِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيًّا
[Maryam: 72] We ask Allah for safety. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
