How to make up fasting for one who was traveling

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If I travel during the month of Ramadan to an area where it is permissible for me to break my fast, and I spend twenty days in that journey, how do you advise me if I want to make up the fasts? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You may make them up consecutively if you wish, or separately if you wish, and praise be to Allah. You make up what you did not fast, whether that is done consecutively or separately. The matter is broad in this regard, and praise be to Allah. If you make them up consecutively, that is better; if you separate them, there is no blame on you.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. What if one delays it until the next Ramadan, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh: One must not delay it until Ramadan. It is obligatory to make up the fasts before Ramadan. If one delays them without an excuse, he must make them up and repent, and he must feed one poor person for each day as an addition, half a sa' for each day, along with repentance and making up the fasts.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
