Ruling on making up the fasts of Ramadan on separate days

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Umm 'Adil from al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, asks in one of her questions: Is it obligatory for me to make up the fasts of Ramadan consecutively, or on separate days? Is all of this permissible?

Answer:
It is permissible to make up the fasts consecutively, and it is permissible to make them up on separate days; there is nothing wrong with that regarding the make-up fasts of Ramadan. As for the expiation, it must be consecutive, such as the expiation for zihar and the expiation for killing; consecutiveness is required.
As for the expiation of fasting for three days, it is recommended that they be consecutive, as Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said in his recitation: "then fasting for three consecutive days." Consecutiveness is more preferable and safer. As for fasting in Ramadan, consecutiveness is not obligatory, meaning that making up missed days of Ramadan does not require consecutiveness, but if one fasts them consecutively, that is better. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
