Question:
A listener from Sudan, from Port Sudan, sent a collection of questions. In one of them, he says: When I pray in the mosque and the imam recites Surat al-Tin, and when he reaches the words of Allah the Exalted: [al-Tin:8], I hear the people repeating behind him: “Yes, and we are among the witnesses to that.” Is this prescribed?
Answer:
It is mentioned in a weak hadith that “when he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited: [al-Tin:8], he would say: ‘Yes, and we are among the witnesses to that.’ And when he recited: [al-Mursalat:50] from the end of al-Mursalat, he would say: ‘I believe in Allah and His messengers, I believe in Allah and what He has revealed.’ And when he recited the end of al-Qiyamah: [al-Qiyamah:40], he would say: ‘Glory be to You, yes.’” However, this is weak, except for what is reported regarding al-Qiyamah, which is established. When Allah the Exalted says: [al-Qiyamah:40], it is said: “Yes, Glory be to You, yes.” This is prescribed. As for at the end of Surat al-Tin and al-Mursalat, it is not preserved. Yes.
