Question:
Our brother asks and says: I often hear about the Qudsi hadiths. I would like you to enlighten us somewhat regarding them. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Qudsi hadiths are those narrated by the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) from his Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He). They are called Qudsi hadiths, meaning: sanctified and exalted; because they are from the speech of the Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He). They are like the Qur'an, the speech of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), but the Qur'an is a continuous miracle, and people are commanded to purify themselves when touching the mushaf. The Qur'an is a miracle and it is the speech of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
As for the Qudsi hadiths, they are the speech of the Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He), but they do not have the ruling of the Qur'an regarding the obligation to purify oneself when touching them. Rather, they have a different status. They are from the speech of the Lord, but they are not the Qur'an, which is the continuous miracle for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is a miracle among the proofs of prophethood. The speech of the Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He) in the Qudsi hadiths is revealed speech, not created, but it is not of the same kind as the Qur'an. Rather, the Qur'an is a continuous miracle indicating the truthfulness of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and it has rulings different from the rulings of the Qudsi hadiths.
The Qudsi hadiths are like what is established in the authentic collections from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Allah the Exalted says:يقول الله 
: "O My servants! Indeed, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and I have made it forbidden among you, so do not oppress one another. O My servants! All of you are astray except the one I guide, so seek guidance from Me and I will guide you. O My servants! All of you are naked except the one I clothe, so seek clothing from Me and I will clothe you. O My servants! All of you are hungry except the one I feed, so seek food from Me and I will feed you. O My servants! You will not reach My harm to harm Me, nor reach My benefit to benefit Me. O My servants! You err by night and day, and I forgive all sins, so seek forgiveness from Me and I will forgive you. O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, and your jinn and your humans, were upon the most righteous heart of one man among you, that would not add anything to My dominion. O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, and your jinn and your humans, were upon the most wicked heart of one man among you, that would not diminish anything from My dominion. O My servants! If the first of you and the last of you, and your jinn and your humans, stood on one plain and asked Me, and I gave every person his request, that would not diminish anything from what I have, except as a needle dipped in the sea diminishes it. O My servants! It is only your deeds that I tally for you, then I repay you with them. So whoever finds good, let him praise Allah, and whoever finds other than that, let him not blame anyone but himself". Imam Muslim narrated it in his Sahih.
This great hadith is called a Qudsi hadith, and it indicates great benefits from the speech of the Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He), as you have heard, O listeners.
It is a great Qudsi hadith indicating the prohibition of oppression, and indicating the need of the servants for their Lord, and that they are poor in relation to Him. He is the Bestower upon them who guides whom He wills and feeds whom He wills, and enriches whom He wills and impoverishes whom He wills. He, the Exalted, is the One who forgives sins and covers defects (Exalted and Majestic is He). He is the One who is rich in relation to His servants; they cannot harm Him nor benefit Him, so He is rich in relation to them (Glorified and Exalted is He). And He, (Exalted and Majestic is He), is not diminished by their sins nor benefited by their obedience. Rather, their obedience benefits them, and their sins harm them.
As for Him, the Exalted, their obedience does not benefit Him, nor does it add anything to His dominion. Just as the sins of people do not diminish Him nor harm Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) in any way. Then He, the Exalted, clarified that if the servants gathered on one plain and asked their Lord for all they desire of matters and needs, that would not diminish anything from what He has (Glorified and Exalted is He); because His treasuries are full, and nothing diminishes them (Glorified and Exalted is He).
Then He, the Exalted, clarified that the result and summary is that it is their deeds that the Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He) tallies for them, then He repays them with them. Meaning, their rewards if they are good, or their punishment if they are bad. For this reason He said:
So let him who finds good, praise Allahفمن وجد خيرًا فليحمد الله
Sahih Muslim 2577a
the one whom He guided to His obedience and guided him and helped him,
and let him who finds other than thatومن وجد غير ذلك
Sahih Muslim 2577a
the one who finds his deeds foul, deserving of the Fire,
then let him not blame anyone but himselfفلا يلومن إلا نفسه
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1860Sahih (Darussalam)
because he neglected and wasted and was lax and followed the desires and Satan. There is no power and no strength except by Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
