The ruling on one who deals with the jinn and claims to be accompanied by them

Question:
Our brother asks and says: There is a person in our area who lives alone in a house, and he claims that the jinn are in his house. He says he is unable to turn on the light at night and keeps his eyes closed most of the time. Some people who claim to know about the jinn visited his home and said that the house is indeed inhabited by jinn; they eat with him, and there is a female jinn that accompanies him constantly. Is it true that the jinn control some people in this way? And is there anything in our noble Shari'ah by which the jinn can be expelled from such a house? I ask for your guidance. May Allah reward you with good.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
Answer:
Yes, yes, this may happen to some people. The jinn may accompany them, mislead them, and incite them to do things that harm people. They may give them some of the hidden knowledge they have gained by eavesdropping or by coming from other countries, such as informing them that the governor of the country has died or that so-and-so has died in such-and-such a country; for the Shayatins inform one another, and they are quick to move from one country to another. They may eavesdrop and hear something from the angels in the sky, or in the lowest heaven of the world, or in the lowest heaven, and then convey it to their allies among the humans.
So a human may have a companion from the jinn, whom the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance called the seer, and his companion is called the soothsayer. This has been a reality since ancient times. Every person has a Shaytan with him and an angel as a companion. The Shaytan with the person may accompany him and invite him to be present, and may cooperate with him in their evil intentions toward this man or this woman. This is a reality among people: the companionship of the jinn, taking them as allies, and seeking their help to harm some people or benefit some people. All of this is a reality, but it is what is wrong, not permissible, forbidden, not permissible. It is not permissible for a Muslim to take them as companions through the path of soothsaying or the path of sorcery, so that they harm people with them. Rather, he must beware of them.
It is obligatory for Muslims to strive against these people in a way that removes their evil. The one in authority sends someone to call them to repent; if they repent and return to the truth and the right path, otherwise he punishes them and disciplines them with beating and imprisonment until they abandon this sorcery and this corruption. If it is known from them that they call upon the jinn, seek aid from the jinn, and make vows to them, this becomes major shirk (associating partners with Allah), and they deserve to be killed for it. Or if it is known from them that they claim knowledge of the unseen because of their devils, and that they know the unseen and that such and such will happen and such and such will happen, then they are also called to repent; if they repent, otherwise they are killed as disbelievers; because claiming knowledge of the unseen is disbelief, as Allah the Exalted said:[النمل:65], and He the Exalted said:[هود:123], Allah the Exalted saidto His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):[الأعراف:188], so if Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who is the best of creation and the master of the children of Adam, does not know the unseen, then others are even more so.
So it is obligatory to put an end to this sorcery and to this person who does what I mentioned: sitting alone, claiming that he has a female jinn, that he does not turn on the light in his house at night, and that he keeps his eyes closed. All of this is a matter of misleading people and taking their money by falsehood, until he says to them: Do such-and-such and do such-and-such, and such-and-such will happen and such-and-such will happen. It is not permissible to leave him in this state in the presence of anyone who has the slightest adherence to the Shari'ah among the rulers. Rather, it is obligatory for the Islamic rulers to take hold of these people, and to put an end to their myths, their sorcery, and their lies.
And it is known that if he is truthful, that this will be removed from him. If he repents to Allah and returns to the truth and repents to his Lord from these things, they will move away from him. For they descend upon every lying, sinful person, and every lying, sinful person, upon their companions. So if he repents, returns to Allah, is truthful, and seeks refuge in Allah from their evil, Allah will suffice him from their evil.
And among the causes of protection is frequent recitation of the Qur'an and seeking refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, when entering the home. And that he say in the morning and evening:Sunan Ibn Majah 3869 three times, so that nothing will harm him. And likewise, if he says: Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani) three times when entering the home. All of this is among the causes of well-being and safety from these evil ones, the Shayatins, the Shayatins of humans and jinn. It is not permissible to leave this person and his like in this falsehood and this reprehensible sorcery by which they mislead people, especially the ignorant. And Allah is the One to be sought for help. Yes.
