Question:
The first question in this episode is from our brother listener (A. A. B), who has a number of questions. In one of them, he asks: Is the husband's foster father and his foster ancestors like his blood father and ancestors? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
The husband's foster father, and likewise his foster ancestors, and likewise the husband's foster sons, are all like blood relatives in the view of the majority of scholars. No disagreement is reported on this that is considered valid, except for an anomalous opinion that is not considered. In fact, the position of the majority of the Imams, including the four Imams (may Allah have mercy on them), is that the husband's foster father is like his blood father, and likewise his foster grandfather is like his blood grandfather. This is due to the generality of the statement of the Exalted and Majestic: [al-Nisa: 22], and His statement regarding the wives of sons: [al-Nisa: 23], and the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Ibn Majah 1937Sahih (Darussalam). Just as the fathers and ancestors of the husband by blood are prohibited, so too are those by fosterage. Likewise, the wives of sons by fosterage are prohibited, just as they are by blood.
As for the statement of the Exalted: [al-Nisa: 23], this is a precaution against claimants, as the scholars have said. A claimant... a claimant is one who, in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, would adopt children and attribute them to himself. Among them was Zayd ibn Harithah, whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) adopted, and he was attributed to him, being called Zayd ibn Muhammad. When Allah the Exalted and Majestic revealed: [al-Ahzab: 5], and His statement: [al-Ahzab: 4], he was called by his father, Zayd ibn Harithah. As for foster sons, they are like blood relatives, and likewise foster fathers are like blood relatives, exactly the same, according to the four Imams and the majority of the scholars. Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi al-Muqaffa (may Allah have mercy on him) did not report any disagreement on this in al-Mughni. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you good.

وَحَلائِلُ أَبْنَائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ مِنْ أَصْلابِكُمْBreast-feeding makes unlawful (for marriages) the same things that blood tie make unlawful.

from your loins
مِنْ أَصْلابِكُمْCall them by their fathers’ names
ادْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْAnd he has not made your adopted sons your [true] sons
