The Ruling on a Man Praying in His House

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praying in the house so that he does not see those he does not like?

Answer: This is not an excuse. Rather, it is obligatory for him to pray in the mosques with the Muslims, even if he sees those he does not like. The matter in this is broad, and if... what harm does it do him? He must respond to Allah and His Messenger, and he must do what Allah and His Messenger have commanded him to do, even if he sees some people he does not like. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever hears the call for prayer and and does not come (to the mosque for prayer), his prayer will not be accepted from him, unless he has a (legitimate) excuse.
Bulugh al-Maram 2:308
It was narrated by Ibn Majah, al-Daraqutni, al-Hakim, and a group of others with a good chain according to the conditions of Muslim. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, when Ibn Umm Maktum asked him:
O Messenger of Allah! I have no guide suitable for me to the mosque, so do I have a dispensation to pray in my house? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you hear the call to prayer? He said: Yes. He said: Then respond.
It was narrated by Muslim in the Sahih.
So this blind man has no guide suitable for him, and it is said to him: "Respond." In the other wording, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
I do not find any permission for you.
Sunan Abi Dawud 552Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
If the blind man, who has no suitable guide for him, is not granted a dispensation, then how much more so is the case of the healthy, sound, unharmed, sighted man? The matter is even greater in his case.
And in the two Sahihs, it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
I was thinking of commanding that the call to prayer be given, then I would tell a man to lead the people in prayer, then I would go out with some other men carrying bundles of wood, and go to people who do not attend the prayer, and burn their houses down around them.
Sunan Ibn Majah 791Sahih (Darussalam)
And this indicates the greatness of the matter. And in Musnad Ahmad, he said:
Were it not for the women and children who are in the houses
Mishkat al-Masabih 1073
.
So the conclusion is: The evidence is clear and established regarding the obligation of praying in congregation in the mosques. It is not permissible for one who delays it so that he does not see some of the people he does not like; he has no excuse for that. Rather, he must fear Allah, watch over his obedience to Allah, and pray with the Muslims, even if he sees those he does not like. Yes.
The presenter: We seek help from Allah.
